U3A stands for UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE, a self help organisation for people no longer in full time employment, which provides educational, creative & leisure opportunities in a friendly environment. It consists of local U3As all over the UK, charities in their own right which are run entirely by member volunteers.
